A View of the Pool

This work sparked from a peculiar contrast: the memory of a wild, free nature I experienced with my whole body during a journey, and the perfectly straight lines of a swimming pool seen from an aerial view. There is a contradiction in drawing straight lines with a ruler—feeling a sense of obsession and a deep comfort all at once—but that irony is the very world I live in, and an undeniable piece of who I am. So, I did my best to paint the pool as flawlessly straight as possible, but right next to it, I filled the canvas with bumpy, uneven trees. People might look confined within that square frame, but inside, they swim and drift in their own unique shapes, creating their own beautiful ripples.
