From a distance, snowflakes may appear identical, but each one is completely unique. The same is true of the miniature figures in his paintings. At first glance, the works seem entirely abstract—simple white canvases scattered with black dots. But upon closer look, those dots reveal themselves to be finely detailed depictions of skiers descending a mountain slope.
This is one of Werner’s most beloved pieces. He believes the composition, color, and texture have come together perfectly. Given that his career began in earnest with the snow-themed ‘White Lines’ series, this work is certain to remain one of his most iconic.
