Seoul often appears unstable as it is endlessly torn down and rebuilt. Yet, because its mountains with their spiritual presence and its palaces like paintings stand firmly to anchor it, the city never loses its dignity. Like a vast park living and breathing organically, this painting portrays the mountains, rivers, and palaces that protect Seoul, along with the diverse people who live within it, reimagining each of them as their own tree.
